A large knife, possible for bread, with a serrated cutting edge. Obviously made by a seaman.

The nineteenth century whaling crew members fashioned many domestic tools such as knives and sewing tools for their wives and sweethearts from the whale ivory and whale bone that they had access to.

The first example we have seen of a serrated edge bread knife.

Length. 330 mm. (13 inches).

WHALEBONE SERRATED KNIFE.
