James Bruce (1730-1794), was a Scottish traveller who went to the source of the Blue Nile in Ethiopia. He claimed to be the first European to reach the source of the Blue Nile.

He account of his travels "Travels to Discover the Source of the Nile, in the Years 1768,1769, 1770, 1771, 1772, 1773." was published in England in 1790.

7 volumes plus Atlas with 22 copperplate engravings and a fold-out copperplate engraved map of Ethiopia.

8vo. Marbled boards. Leather spine with gold lettering.
