Spelter figure with the original painted finish. The figure of a young bare-footed man with a shrimp net. Signed on the base, E. Rousseau. The artist, Emile Francois Rousseau (1850-1899), was responsible for sculpting many genre figures that reflected the interior decorating taste of the rising middleclass of the late nineteenth century.
