Born in Dumfries, Scotland, Blaylock trained at the Royal College of Art in London. Highly regarded prior to the First World War, his refusal to modernise his style led to a drop in his popularity. Best known for his coloured wood-blocks, his style and colour palette is instantly recognizable.
