A view of Sydney Cove from Kirrabilli Point on the North Shore of Port Jackson, immediately to the north of the Cove. The war ship anchored in the left middle ground is probably HMS RATTLESNAKE and the artist Oswald Brierly, prior to their surveying voyage to the Torres Strait.

The engraver was John Carmichael (1811-57) the more important Sydney engraver of the period.
