A sail trader under tow by a steam tug. Probably the Lower Thames, a favourite inspiration for Wyllie.
William Lionel Wyllie (1851-1931), was a major maritime artist in Britain. He is represented in all major galleries. A prolific etcher of shipping and working tugboats, especially on the Thames, his distinctive dry-point style is extremely recognisable.
