Map of the initial overland expedition by Francis and Alexander Jardine initially from Rockhampton to the top of Cape York Peninsula droving cattle. Starting with 250 head they arrived at the Cape with 50. Harassed by natives along the way they killed a great many and when arrived at the settlement known as Somerset, it had taken some ten months for the trip. Francis made his life at Somerset and both he and his brother Alexander are considered the pioneers of Far Northern Queensland.

Published by the Royal Geographical Society with their route coloured in red. Much coastal detail and copious notes along the way.
