A petit ivory okinomo of a fisherwoman with a cane basket of clams on her back and supporting a large fish at her feet with her right hand. To her right is a small child playing with a clam. Mother and child are in traditional Japanese dress.

Finely carved and made from sectional ivory. The hair of the figures and the decorative designs on their clothes have been highlighted in traditional black stain.

Meji period. (1868-1912).

Signed on the underside of the woman.

Height 90mm.

Some minor damage but generally in good condition.
