Campeche Bay is the southern-most bay in the Gulf of Mexico. Enclosed on its eastern side by the Yucatan Peninsula and to the west by the mainland.

Published as part of William Dampier's account of his circumnavigation of the world in 1699. Dampier based himself here during his privateering days.

The cartographer Herman Moll rose from humble beginnings to become amongst the more important London mapmakers of the early eighteenth century. He especially was known for his work on Dampier's voyage.
