The Huon River at The Egg Islands, Tasmania. Published in 1825 in Joseph Lycett's Views in Australia. Shows with clarity the park-like landscape of the riparian reaches of Tasmania which evolved with aboriginal fire husbandry. In the foreground a clump of Huon pines.

Joseph Lycett, c.1774-1828, was a convicted forger and drunkard who was transported to Sydney and continued to forge. Obviously a gifted artist, he gained his freedom and returned to England in 1822. There is no record of him ever being in Tasmania and his imput into Views in Australia is unknown.
